Mountain View Home Remodeling

Award-Winning Mountain View Remodeling CONTRACTOR

Mountain View sits between the Santa Cruz Mountains and San Francisco Bay in the heart of Silicon Valley. According to the City of Mountain View, the city is 10 miles north of San Jose, 35 miles south of San Francisco, just over 12 square miles, and home to more than 86,500 residents. This mix of established neighborhoods, long-term homeowners, older family homes, and updated residences means local remodeling projects often need careful planning around layout, comfort, storage, energy use, and daily function.

Mountain View is also known for its strong small business base and major technology, biotech, and telecommunications employers, while still keeping a community feel through its neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces. For homeowners, that balance often shows up in the home itself: practical family spaces, updated kitchens, better indoor flow, flexible work areas, and room layouts that suit modern living.

Hammerschmidt Construction serves Mountain View homeowners with residential remodeling services backed by decades of design-build and construction knowledge. For homeowners comparing Mountain View home contractors, our team offers one connected process for planning, design, permits, and construction.

Recent Mountain View Full-House Remodel

Below is one of our recent Mountain View full-house remodels, completed for a family that wanted to keep the original footprint while improving flow, comfort, and day-to-day function.

Classic Traditional Charm

This two-story, 3,300-square-foot home was built in 1991. The home had enough space for a family of four, but the layout needed updating and better flow. Several small rooms made circulation difficult, especially between the kitchen, dining room, study area, and family room.

Mountain View Home Remodel Project Details

The focus of this remodel was to create a more open layout while maintaining the original footprint. In the kitchen, Hammerschmidt Construction replaced outdated appliances, cabinets, countertops, and fixtures. The cooktop was moved from the island to the back wall, creating a stronger focal point and adding more usable counter space. The former wet bar was converted into a workspace and study area for the children.

The primary bathroom was updated from an older space with oak cabinets, chrome fixtures, white tile, dark grout, and inefficient lighting into a calmer, more refined bathroom. The enclosed, set-in tub was replaced with a freestanding tub, and the chrome-framed shower was replaced with a frameless shower that shows the Akdo Carrara marble mosaic detail.

Carrara honed marble tile floors, White Princess polished granite, and custom dark walnut cabinets created contrast throughout the bathroom. Added details, including the chandelier and rain-frosted windows, helped create a classic and serene feel.

The upstairs bedroom also gained more function. The high ceiling area above the closet had been unused, so the client used that space to create a loft area where her daughter could have a room of her own.
