Sometimes the best remodeling opportunities begin unexpectedly. In this case, a toilet overflow caused significant damage to a primary bathroom, requiring the removal of the flooring, vanity, and bathtub.
Rather than simply restoring what had been there before, the homeowners decided it was the perfect opportunity to create the primary suite they had always envisioned.
Our goal was to transform a dark, outdated bathroom into a bright, luxurious retreat that would feel both relaxing and highly functional.
We began by rethinking the layout and upgrading the room’s amenities. The existing shower became a steam shower, radiant heat was installed beneath the new tile floor, and French doors were added between the bathroom and primary bedroom to create a stronger connection between the two spaces. The original deck-mounted tub was replaced with a freestanding soaking tub that serves as a beautiful focal point.
Storage was another major priority. We designed custom vanity cabinetry that includes a tall linen cabinet, a built-in jewelry drawer, and a concealed laundry hamper, giving everything a dedicated place while maintaining a clean, uncluttered appearance. Throughout the room, carefully coordinated finishes—including cabinetry painted to match the tile, full-height mosaic backsplashes, and elegant lighting—create a cohesive, sophisticated design.
To make the space even more enjoyable, we incorporated technology that enhances everyday living. A wall-mounted iPad allows the homeowners to enjoy music or television while relaxing, while a digital shower control lets each family member personalize water temperature and shower settings. Preset temperature controls also allow their young children to use the shower safely and independently.
To complete the transformation, we remodeled the adjoining primary bedroom with a new marble fireplace surround, updated lighting, and a television niche. The result is a peaceful, spa-inspired primary suite designed for comfort, convenience, and everyday luxury.
