The David Benzer Torture Cancer Foundation recently launched the Immediate Impact program to create comforting, life-affirming environments in cancer clinic waiting rooms across the country. John Hammerschmidt, principal at Hammerschmidt Construction, donated his time to complete the first makeover at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. A 3D monitor, Blu-ray disc player, and a commercial beverage machine were installed in the waiting room along with speakers in radiation treatment room. John Hammerschmidt donated his time to install the components after hours so the clinic and patients would not be disturbed. For more information on the Torture Cancer and the Immediate Impact Program, please see the Torture Cancer website and the Torture Cancer facebook page.
