John Hammerschmidt
C.E.O.

A third generation Californian, (and contractor!) John grew up in the Central Valley with dreams of becoming a farmer. He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Landscape Construction before moving to the Bay Area where he sold irrigation systems to Napa wineries, managed field operations for two landscaping firms (including his own) and two constuction companies.

He also did a stint as Customer Service and Operations Manager at a computer networking firm. In 1996, he founded Hammerschmidt Construction with the goal of providing superior service and project management to homeowners. He holds both Class A (Engineering) and Class B (General Contractor) California State Contractors’ licenses. He is also a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer (CKBD), and a Certified Green Builder (CGB). John enjoys working with homeowners to design and build homes that are at the same time functional, beautiful, energy efficient, and easy-to-maintain. A long time member of the Western Horitculture Society, John enjoys fruit and vegetable gardening and cooking whatever he grows.

Lynn Hammerschmidt
President

A Palo Alto native, Lynn graduated from U.C. Berkeley and enjoyed a successful career as a marketing executive in four, Bay Area, medical start-up firms. She joined Hammerschmidt Construction in 1999 and oversees the “Business-of-the-Business” and assists homeowners in designing their homes and selecting finishes.

Phil Thorpe
Production Manager

As our Production Manager, Phil is responsible for the overall supervision of all construction projects and works hands-on with subcontractors and customers to assure the utmost quality and highest level of customer satisfaction. He brings over 20 years of management and customer service experience, which includes 13 years as General Manager of a home improvement company specializing in residential doors. Phil holds a California contractor’s license and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from CSU, Long Beach.

Suzzie

Suzette O’Farrell
Designer

Suzette brings to HCI a wealth of design and construction knowledge and experience. Working closely with our subcontractors, manufacturers, and installers, and aiding clients in selecting interior and exterior finishes, she is instrumental in driving projects to completion. Prior to joining Hammerschmidt Construction, Suzette worked in commercial space planning and design as well as for several award-winning design and architectural firms in the Bay Area and New York, including her own successful design business. In addition to interior design, she also has experience in the telecommunications field as a Senior Network Analyst. Suzette holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design from San Jose State University and an Associate of Arts degree from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

Maureen

Maureen Williams
Marketing Manager

A Stockton native, Maureen graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. She joined HCI in 2012 and her responsibilities include overseeing our social media presence, development of website content, electronic newsletters and marketing collateral materials. She also coordinates our photo shoots of company projects. Prior to working in the design/build industry she spent over 15 years in high tech companies in a variety of accounting and finance roles.

Joel Thorson
Office Manager

Joel came to HCI in 2009 and wears many hats in the company. He brings over 20 years of experience in Customer Service, Project Management and bookkeeping. Combined with his background in Real Estate and Contracts Administration he has been instrumental in keeping the office running efficiently.
