John Hammerschmidt, C.E.O.  A third generation Californian, (and contractor!) John grew up in the Central Valley with dreams of becoming a farmer. He graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Landscape Construction before moving to the Bay Area where he sold irrigation systems to Napa wineries, managed field operations for two landscaping firms (including his own) and two constuction companies. He also did a stint as Customer Service and Operations Manager at a computer networking firm. In 1996, he founded Hammerschmidt Construction with the goal of providing superior service and project management to homeowners. He holds both A (General Contractor)and B (Engineering) California State Contractors' licenses, is a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer (CKBD), and a Certified Green Builder (CGB). John enjoys working with homeowners to design and build homes that are at the same time functional, beautiful, energy efficient, and easy-to-maintain. A long time member of the Western Horitculture Society, John enjoys fruit and vegetable gardening and cooking whatever he grows. |
Lynn Hammerschmidt, President  A Palo Alto native, Lynn graduated from U.C. Berkeley and enjoyed a successful career as a marketing executive in four, Bay Area, medical start-up firms. With way too many frequent flier miles and after the arrival of her first child, she joined Hammerschmidt Construction in 1999 to be home with her child and to dig John out from under a mountain of paperwork. Lynn oversees the "Business-of-the-Business" and assists homeowners in designing their homes and selecting finishes. In her spare time (what spare time) Lynn enjoys reading, interior design, and screaming "Go Bears!" to the point of embarrassing her children. |
Isaac Fischer, Pre-Construction Manager  Isaac, or "Iceman" a San Jose native, is our resident Musician/Estimator. He graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay, with a degree in Music and Performing Arts and for more than 10 years has actively performed, as a bass guitarist, in several Bay Area bands. He joined Hammerschmidt Construction as an office assistant. His cheerful demeanor, quick mind, and attention to detail earned him a full-time position as our Estimator and now as our Pre-Construction Manager. In addition to performing in local clubs (You can hear a sample of his music if you are ever placed on hold when you call in) Iceman......you knew this was coming...... is a rabid San Jose Sharks fan. |
Sean Murawsky, Production Manager
A Scotts Valley native, Sean joined the company as a working Foreman and received numerous positive comments from customers, subcontractors and his peers. Sean was promoted to Production Manager to keep all of the projects under construction running smoothly. Sean is married and has a son who shows a real gift for demolition. |
David Cruz, Remodeling Foreman

As the company’s first employee—David was with Hammerschmidt six years before it became Hammerschmidt! He followed John from residential construction to computer networking and back again, David has journeyman-level skills in, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry and tile. His brothers, Jaime and Joel also join him, as the infamous Cruz Brothers making sure homeowners'’ projects are completely on Cruz Control. He is married and has three school-age children.
Edith Hernandez, Remodeling Foreman

Edith’s personal interest in Green Building led her to Hammerschmidt Construction. She had previously worked for another certified green builder but her commute to San Francisco from the South Bay was , shall we say, less than Green. As our most recent hire, Edith brings a background in construction management and attention to detail and homeowner needs to each job she managesDesign + Build Los Altos Remodeling Contractors for Home Renovation, Whole House, Addition, Bathroom, Kitchen Remodeling, in the San Francisco Bay Area including Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Palo Alto and surrounding San Francisco Bay Area communities.
